May Recap

Mets Fundraiser – LGM!

Great event even though the Mets lost.  Thanks for coming out and supporting the PTA and the Mets!

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

Read-a- thon

Thanks to everyone (students, parents, and teachers) that helped make this read-a-thon a success. We are very proud of all our readers (even those that were not able to create accounts- we know you read).

We had 267 students with activated accounts. Our readers together logged 75,515 minutes. Thanks to parents and family members that supported this event and as a result, we were able to raise $11,838.00

Every AEA student would be getting a token for reading and the top 3 readers in every grade gets a prize. We know that our scholars will continue to dive into reading throughout the summer.

Congratulations to class 1-257 (Mrs. N/Mrs. R) for winning the pizza party (for having the class with the most minutes read)- together they read 9447 minutes.

Thank you, L. Bove, for organizing this event!

Thanks, everyone!

2022-2023 in review –

Our PTA has had a long tradition of partnering with our teachers and staff in their efforts to educate our children.  Also, as a PTA we maintain our  strong commitment to community building and engagement.

Your support and participation in this school year’s events were what made this year successful.

Thank YOU for:

  • attending PTA meetings
  • volunteering for the bake sale, picture day, spirit wear, kona ice, teacher and staff appreciation week,  read-a-thon, and the end of year picnic
  • donating to  the bake sale, potluck, and the teacher and staff goodie carts
  • participating in the fundraisers and the leaf activity for teacher and staff appreciation week
  • being a part of the nominating committee
  • being a part of the afterschool program committee
  • amending the bylaws to include the afterschool program
  • trusting us to serve this community

Because of  YOU:

  • we had PTA-sponsored field trips for all (in school and off-site)
  • we had successful fundraisers: Bake Sale, Spiritwear, Picture day, Movie Event, Krispy Kreme, Mets Game, Ice Skating & Read- a- Thon
  • we had a potluck in December for our families
  • we were able to provide hot cocoa for our students
  • we  provided technology equipment (charging carts and printers) to support teaching and learning.
  • we were able to continue to provide school planners (2nd -5th grade)
  • bought ukuleles for our music department
  • continued support for our 4th grade drama production
  • continued  to provide resources that support our curriculum (e.g A-Z reading platform for lower grades & Go Math)
  • funded classroom resources (from the teacher’s and staff’s wishlist)
  • we had a canned food drive in December and donations  were given to a local food bank
  • we supported our Racial Equity Committee by funding trips  they organized for each grade
  • we provided meals and gifts for teacher and staff to show our appreciation for all they do
  • the Kona ice truck returned
  • we continue to provide Operoo for school wide communication
  • we supported our graduating and stepping up grades  (5th, Kindergarten, and Pre-K)
  • we are wrapping the year with an end-of-year picnic

The continued success of our PTA relies on your involvement. Kindly consider being an active participant (or remaining active) in meetings, events, and fundraisers in the upcoming  year.

Thank you all for all your hard work and we’re grateful for each and every one of you.
