It’s here!!! The 100th day of school is Wednesday February 15th 2023. Perhaps like some of us on the executive board you were unfamiliar with this “celebration” until your kid started elementary school. Nevertheless, we encourage you to celebrate your child(ren) for pushing through and making it to this milestone!

“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.” We are also using this time to salute and recognize our teachers and staff for the daily growth we see in our children.

Students, teachers, staff, parents, caregivers – well done!

You can bring this national school tradition home (mostly celebrated in the younger grades @ AEA), by reading one of these randomly selected books with your kids.

Ice Skating Night Recap

AEA took over World Ice Arena. A great turnout (253 skaters) and we had a blast! Thank you for coming out and supporting this event. It was great seeing our kids helping each other – teaching each other how to skate or picking up each other after falling.

February PTA General Meeting

Our February meeting will be on Thursday February 9th at 7pm via Zoom. We will be reviewing a few vendor options and voting on picture day vendor for 2023-24 school year. Full agenda to follow shortly. We hope to see you there!

Pre-K Application

The Pre-K application is now open. If your child was born in 2019 and lives in New York City, they are eligible to attend pre-K in September 2023. Deadline to apply is March 10th 2023.

Families can apply one of two ways:

1. Online with MySchools(Open external link).
2. By phone at 718-935-2009. You can ask questions and request information about admissions in any language when you call.

AEA Afterschool Poll

This is a poll to gauge interest in a potential afterschool program for our school if it was made available on-site at the school and paid for by the families enrolling. There is currently nothing set up. The afterschool committee members are just gathering information at this time. Please respond by Friday 2/3. Thanks for your participation!
