Volunteer Appreciation Week is also in April (April 16-22), and the theme this year is “Volunteering Weaves Us Together.” AEA families by giving of your time, talent and/or treasure, you have helped weave our school and community into a better place. We appreciate your engagement and commitment to our school. THANK YOU!

Congrats to our student council on their successful fundraiser!

Who is the student council?

The student council is comprised of four 5th grade students. For the 2022-2023 school year, AEA created its very first-ever Student Council Organization. For this organization, students from the 5th grade graduating class have come together to put their best efforts to make AEA school and community a place where students and families will never forget. Considering that the AEA school is a growing and developing school, Teachers and Administration have sought help from our wonderful students who have first-hand experience of growing at the AEA school. All 5th-grade students had the opportunity to decide if they wanted to run for a Student Council position. At AEA, there was a candidate debate/assembly for candidates to introduce themselves. AEA had an ‘Election Day’ in the school building, Grades 2 through 5 voted by paper for the person they wanted to elect for each position. Votes were tallied and winners were revealed. Our student council is looking to help the entirety of AEA by helping improve the academic and social experience for all students and staff. We are looking forward to all the wonderful ideas that our student council will implement to help improve our school.

Thank You

Dear PTA,

Yesterday, we received our paintbrushes from the wish list. Again, we appreciate your support and generosity! Thank you so much for donating to our Artist in Focus projects in first grade. These brushes will be put to great use.

The First Grade Team

To The PTA-

The Fourth Grade team wanted to extend a huge thank you for funding our New York Historical Society experience. The students met three times with a visiting instructor, who was able to bring history alive by bringing artifacts to our school. It was an incredibly powerful and positive experience, and we appreciate your support!

Best,

Erica, Rebecca and Sumaiyah (The 4th Grade Team)

We will be reviewing election information, our afterschool committee will present an update, and much more. We hope to see you there (virtually via Zoom)!

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

Hello AEA families,

We are looking forward to celebrating our teachers and staff during teacher appreciation week (May 8th -12th). We would like to invite every child to participate in the activity.

Our theme:

“Thank you for helping us to grow”

We will be decorating a paper tree in the lobby. We are requesting that each child design a leaf for their teacher /staff member (write a message or just design the leaf – please include the child’s name and class on the front side of the leaf). Please send the finished product in a sealed envelope addressed to the PTA by 4/25/2023.

Please cut out any of the leaf templates to design and send back to the school in your child’s homework folder. We appreciate your participation and support.
